Sabre Insurance was set up
as an underwriting company in 1982 and has gone through many
transitions since its beginnings.
It was made an independently owned insurance company in 1991
and was purchased in 1996 by the General Accident company.
Following this, GA merged with Commercial Union to form CGU
and again with Norwich Union to form CGNU.
This has now become a part of the Aviva group.
However, in 2002, CGNU sold Sabre to BDML Group who in turn
sold its broking subsidiary and changed its name to Binomial Group
Limited. At present,
Sabre Insurance is a wholly owned subsidiary of the Binomial Group
Limited and is based in Dorking,
Surrey
with a small team of around 100 employees.
Sabre provide insurance for
private cars but also create a lot of their business from the
insurance of non standard vehicles such as taxis.
Their private car insurance policies are aimed at drivers
with no or a low no-claims bonus.
They also target drivers with poor accident history and
convictions. Consequently,
they insure a large number of younger drivers and drivers who might
otherwise struggle to afford insurance from other companies.
Sabre
Insurance are committed to selling their policies through a team of
insurance brokers. This
enables the customer to ensure that they are getting the right
policy for their needs and also ensures that Sabre Insurance are
correctly targeting the types of customer that they are looking for.
